I agree—the one packing their knives was growing on me. I like the relationship between Amar and the Jordanian. Tom seems a little stubborn, but it was also interesting no one was really willing to say Tom was taking up a lot of the budget. I am glad Dale is back.
Amar and Ali are cute together! I like that Amar always has a smile on his face.
I like Dale too.
As for Tim spending a huge amount of the budget, I don’t recall any of other other chefs pushing back - at least not hard. So they can’t complain at judging.
I love how they refer to them as habibi. True about the budget. It seemed the Polish lady was the only one who kind of responded to Gail’s question of budget.
Of course we don’t see the entire judging…but to me in the budget discussion as they say the (other chef’s) silence seemed deafening.
That was so odd for it to end with …not ending unless you wanted to watch LCK! Sort of made me mad - I was tired and wanted to get to bed!
So I guess we can’t talk about LCK results…
Why not? The episode aired a couple days ago and If someone really doesn’t want to see recent results, best to stay away until you’ve watched.
I feel like that’s generally the CC spoiler understood rule - not sharing spoilers beyond what was aired on the regular show. I did watch this LCK but i normally do not .
I didn’t realize that the ending was on LCK. I thought it was a cliffhanger for next week. Off to watch
Speaking for myself, I don’t care what results are discussed after the show airs. So few had commented on this week’s episode that I didn’t want to spoil in case someone hadn’t watched yet or hadn’t watched LCK (found that concept of a reveal there a bit odd - okey if it’s a one & done on that concept I guess).
I thought later that Highclere made a nice backdrop, but that’s all it was. Were some of the guest judges staff there & I missed that?
The concept of “spoilers” beyond the airing of the usual one hour show is probably - for this season - a mute point. I would doubt they would do that trick again?
I agree that once the show has aired - the one hour show - all info can be posted. But for me at least, LCK is not something I usually watch - I only did this week because well, I was dying to know who saved themselves!
So YES, the cliffhanger gets resolved in LCK this week.
Interesting concept for quick fires and challenge this week. I had never heard of this famous chef before but he was a treat!
I was sort of surprised that Dale went over the chef from Africa (cannot remember all the names!) though either of them was a good candidate to go. Tom survives another “snafu”.
As a favorite of mine, I breathed a little sigh of relief when Budha won the quick fire. “Good, now I can relax and enjoy the rest of the show.” Lol. But his challenge dish also looked really great - which looks had to be part of the challenge as well.
Maybe I’m more sensitive to it because I like him but I do still wonder if the judges hold him to a little higher standard? Expectations just seem higher???
I hated that Dale had another exit so soon. He was the guest on Sara’s Friday IG live post. I started watching it and figured out that he had been shown the door again, but when I opened another tab it quit and when I returned I would have had to start the video over. Just wasn’t interested enough to do that. They seem to be good buddies ever since winning the first quick fire together.
I am having dinner at Freight House the first week in May and I wish I could have those pecan encrusted ribs she made for the last episode. I don’t think they are on her current menu, but she has several dishes flagged with a TC symbol to indicate things she made on the show.
Looks like the ribs may be an appetizer. Enjoy!
I really thought Charbel (sp?) should have won. It was visually nicer and looked more tasty than the other guy’s dish— and his story was moving to me.
Another great episode with interesting, captivating challenges. I hope Budha doesn’t get a chip on his shoulder. The mis en place!!! (May not be spelling it right)
Somebody mentioned upstream that they wonder if Budha was held to a higher standard - I wondered if the judges actually cut him some slack because they know how good he is. I like Budha, but I kinda think he may already have a chip on his shoulder?? He’s made a couple of comments.
Sorry to see Dale go - he seems like a nice guy. But they all do - one reason I like this show!
We tried to watch the 04/27 episode on-demand on 04/28 (Verizon). It said Top Chef, it said 54 min, but it was actually Last Chance Kitchen…so we saw who was eliminated before we saw the actual episode (which wasn’t available until the next day!)
For some reason, this thread doesn’t come up on my “unread” or “latest” list. Anyone else have that issue?
I wondered why no one had commented!
@RookieCollegeMom , I get notifications when someone posts on this thread because I have the thread control set to “watching.”
This thread is showing me when new comments are added. I’m wondering why they’re editing Cheftestant Tom as a controlling bully; I doubt everyone else just knuckles under to his commands so there must be more they’re not showing us.
I always love watching the mis en place! Does anybody here remember Hung in one of the early seasons breaking down chicken? It’s one of my all time favorite top chef moments. He went on Chopped some years later and he was heads and tails faster than anyone else in the first 60 seconds. The judges were impressed
