Can someone give me some top colleges (ivies, etc.) that are relatively easy to get in with a math major?(or is it hard to get into all of them with a math major) I ask this because i first want to get into the college and than maybe switch my major to something in science, med, or engineering.

Why don't you just apply doing what you want? That seems really sneaky to me, claiming a "rare" major just to get in. Engineering at Princeton is no harder percentage-wise to get into than the real thing, as far as I've heard.

All i want to do first is get into a good college. I can live with a math major(probably my strongest aspect), but i'd prefer a science or engineering major. Can anyone suggest any?

You could apply under one major, then just switch after you get there. I do not recommend this, though.

What colleges are easy to get in with a math major?

I have no idea.

Anyone know of any? please thanks

i heard caltech is pretty much surfing school, and that they spend more time at the beach than in the classroom.

Either you're joking (haha), or seriously confusing Caltech with somewhere else.

Anyway, NYU isn't that hard to get in to (especially compared to HYPMS etc) and has a great math program. Chicago is probably a bit harder to get in to than NYU (even though it has a higher acceptance rate, don't be fooled), especially if you apply ED to NYU, but it too has a great math program. Other schools strong in math which aren't terribly hard to get in to include Michigan and Cornell (more so if you apply ED). Out of all of these, Michigan is probably the easiest to get in to.

Are schools like cornell and NYU PARTICULARLY easy to get in WITH a math major or is it just generally one of the easier top colleges to get into.

They are relatively easy top schools to get into. I'm not sure about whether it's easier for math majors. Could be though- they tend to attract "pre-professionals". Top LACs like Williams and Swarthmore may be easier for math majors. but I have no specific data on that.

Are there any good LAC that are pretty easy to get into for a math major? I'm looking to major in math (and I"m a girl).

bump bump bump

Most of the students I work with have very high math scores and are extremely advanced in math. Nothing new to the ivies. It is a bit harder to have the higher verbal scores, from what I have been told.

But just because you have a high math SAT score does not nesseccarily mean you will apply as a math major...

Cornell and Upenn

Actually, if you want to apply to top colleges as math or pure science major, it might seemed to be easier than other majors, but in reality it isn't. Because, for math, there are approximately 250 kids from USAMO, many kids around the world from IMO, and so on. You'll have to compete with them. Unless you have a real 'hook' in mathematics, I wouldn't suggest it.
