<p>My niece wants to major in chemistry (then go on to medical school). She is a senior, and needs my help finding colleges, right away. She's very smart but naive and sheltered, from a state where going to the state college is considered impressive. She has amazing stats: 4.0 UGPA, 34 SAT, solid extracurricular (one, but 13+ hrs/week), 10 APs, from an underrepresented state, national merit semifinalist, etc. She thinks she'll get great recommendations. Please give me a list of some of the top schools for chemistry. Also some reach that will give her money with her stats (has a single mom who makes less than $40K). Also, I told her she needs to take SAT IIs pronto - but which? Math 2 and ? Can you help? Thanx.</p>
<p>With those stats she should apply to some top schools in addition to some safeties. She might consider Wash U or Rice. Both have outstanding science programs with v. strong premed programs/med school placement. Although pricey privates, she will be awarded near full-rides if accepted because of her family’s low income.</p>
