OP, Rollins is indeed an excellent LAC in a beautiful location within a large city. The great thing about LACs (as you likely know) is the devotion of the faculty to the undergraduate experience; Rollins’ faculty are no different. Very approachable and there to help students learn.
Theatre at Rollins seems popular and well regarded. Don’t know anything about the English department (D1 will be a sophomore majoring in biology; secretly hoping my HS junior D2 goes to Rollins too).
For costs at Rollins, run the NPC… very accurate for our financial situation. Here are the merit criteria at Rollins: http://www.rollins.edu/financial-aid/as-cps-financial-aid/scholarships/
For other warm weather (non CA) LACs, I recommend Sewanee (beautiful outdoor locale), Rhodes (gritty Memphis), Furman, Wofford, Elon, Agnes Scott, URichmond, College of Charleston, and Davidson.
