OP, @dadof1 is a helpful poster with a D attending Rollins. I think she is very happy there. It’s a wonderful school in a beautiful location. He may be able to give you more insight on Rollins.
I second the suggestion upthread of Sewanee. Amazing English department, great professors, and moderate weather. Sewanee doesn’t meet full need for everyone, but they come very close (@94%). They tend to meet full need for students on lower and mid range of need. You’d also likely receive merit aid.
OP, Rollins is indeed an excellent LAC in a beautiful location within a large city. The great thing about LACs (as you likely know) is the devotion of the faculty to the undergraduate experience; Rollins’ faculty are no different. Very approachable and there to help students learn.
Theatre at Rollins seems popular and well regarded. Don’t know anything about the English department (D1 will be a sophomore majoring in biology; secretly hoping my HS junior D2 goes to Rollins too).
For other warm weather (non CA) LACs, I recommend Sewanee (beautiful outdoor locale), Rhodes (gritty Memphis), Furman, Wofford, Elon, Agnes Scott, URichmond, College of Charleston, and Davidson.
Feel free to PM me if you would like more specific information re: Rollins.
I second @dadof1 's suggestion of College of Charleston. With your current stats , you’d be competitive for Honors College acceptance. Charleston is a great city with the opportunities to participate in a variety of the activities of activities including theatre and the arts. The Honors College also has an international scholars program with many study abroad opportunities. It’s worth a look.
@sodonewithHS16, How much can your parents pay per year? Have they run the Net Price Calculators on any college websites to get an estimate of how much they’d be expected to pay? What’s your (ballpark) family income? All of that info. makes a difference. If you’re low income, getting a full tuition award at a school whose total cost of attendance is ~$60k won’t help you.
Talk to your parents about finances and let us know how much they can afford. We need that info. to help you build a realistic list. Be aware that if there was unemployment this year, when income increases so will your EFC.
