I'm seriously considering USC, Syracuse, and NYU, and have an idea that I could get into all three... but what are other good communications schools?

BU is # 1 for communications

Do you mean "communication studies", "communication science and disorder", or "journalism"? Anyway, Northwestern is good for all of them. :)

I was also going to apply there, but I didn't realize that it was number one. Have you seen a list around of the rankings? I didn't know that.

Communications studies. Media. I'm going to apply to Northwestern but I probably won't get in. Maybe my being a URM will help.

I doubt BU is #1 in communications because I haven't really seen any official ranking for communications before.

Hm, yeah, I agree. I haven't either.

And since you seem like a knowledgeable person, Sam Lee, I'm curious about your opinion. I would say that I would most likely get accepted to both USC and Syracuse. (Though Northwestern is awesome, once again, it's not likely that I would be accepted.)

In the event that I did get accepted to both schools, which would you suggest I choose? My dream is to attend USC but I know that Syracuse is great too for communications. Pros for USC include the fact that I would like to stay near home, they have an entertainment focus option, it's in LA and I would like to do something involving the entertainment biz, and I just like the rich, real college-y vibe of the whole school if that makes any sense. Syracuse, on the other hand, has very specific majors, like advertising.

What do you think, if you have an opinion at all?

And by "rich," BTW, I don't mean wealthy, haha. I mean... well, you probably know what I mean.

My guess is USC if you want to work in LA. But I am not in this field.

Since you mention advertising, check out IMC certificate. Medill - IMC Undergraduate Certificate
Even if you are not in the journalism school (e.g. communications school), you can still apply during the sophomore year.

I've heard Emerson is good if you're willing to look at smaller ones.

Wisconsin has one of the best--especially for comm theory and film studies.

UT Austin has the nation's most comprehensive college of communications.
