Top High Schools in the United States?

A few years ago I asked about this, and I suppose that thread is in the archive somewhere. Now that there are a lot of new participants here on College Confidential, I'm curious which high schools in the United States you would mention as outstanding high schools with strong academic programs that should be well known to college admission committees. Feel free to name as many as you've heard of that have a national reputation.

Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology
Milton Academy
Phillips Exeter
Phillips Andover

choate
stuyvesent

Newsweek: America's Top Public High Schools (America's Top Public High Schools | Newsweek Best High Schools | Newsweek.com)
This is calculated based on number of AP and IB courses offered and the number of students who take them.

Washington Post: The 100 Best High Schools in America (The 100 Best High Schools in America)

Google "Top High schools in US" if you're interested in more lists.

Quick yes or no for all.

Does your highschool make the top 500?
Does your highschool make the list?
Do you feel that their is lot of school spirit at your HS?

NYY for me.

Mine is international.. but I heard if it is ranked amongst U.S. boarding schools, it would make top 20.

Our school has no spirit. lolz

No (almost)
Yes
Yes

Are we talking prep schools or PUBLIC HS?

Any high school, in the United States, from which students apply for freshman admission to colleges or universities.

I think my school is ranked fourth in country if you count private schools, but you also have to consider the criteria upon which the schools are ranked.

My school has NO school spirit.

What school is that?

I think some schools that won't appear in newsweeks top 500 but are still good are the math and/or science academies. Of them, Simon's Rock is the most famous, but others are NCSSM (North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics) and MASMC (Missouri Academy of Science, Mathematics, and Computing... my school), and around ten others.

Does your highschool make the top 500? yes
Does your highschool make the list? yes
Do you feel that their is lot of school spirit at your HS? um... kinda. We take pride we have the worst football team in the county :)

Obviously unbiased, I say that Jenks High School is the best.

Does your highschool make the top 500? Yes
Does your highschool make the list? Yes
Do you feel that their is lot of school spirit at your HS? No

lol, why is everyone here in top high schools?

Choate Rosemary Hall

Jenks High School

Milton Academy

Phillips Academy Andover

Phillips Exeter Academy

Stuyvesant High School

Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology

Which of these have you heard of where you live?

My problem with those lists is that they all go on AP and IB classes, and my school only offers ~10 APs, so it's not on those lists, but it's one of the best (and the most selective) public school in NYC.

City Honors School
Nichols School
Canisius High School
maybe Hutchinson Central Technical High School
All in Buffalo, NY.
Andover
Dalton

You could probably add Bronx to the list too
