Hi all! Sorry to clog the board with another "chance me!!!" type thread, but I just got my first semester GPA back and I won't lie-- it's making me nervous. I know ultimately, the admissions people will do their thing and that's that, but I just wanted to see what others thought.

So here's my background info without giving away too many details!

College Stats
School: top 3 LAC
GPA: 3.4
ECs: music, sports, leadership position in a club, work a few hours a week in one of our school's academic departments

High School Stats
School: large public
GPA: 3.94 UW (one B+ in AP macro)
SAT 1: 2200+
SAT 2: 800 and 740
Awards: National Merit Finalist, AP scholar, high school's English and Music Department senior awards
ECs: music (concert master of various orchestras), two club sports (team captain of both, junior olympics), co-founded an NPO (which I still work with), held various leadership positions, tutored and taught music

The reason why my college GPA is relatively low was because yes, this definitely wasn't high school and the courses were actually difficult, but I also got really sick right before midterms and missed my midterms and a huge chunk of classes. I actually ended up going to the hospital to get treated, and it seriously exhausted me from the beginning of October til the end of November. I was also rehabbing all throughout the first semester from two surgeries I had in the summer, and it also required a lot of time and energy in addition to academics + getting sick.

My #1 choice is WashU-- I won't list my reasons as there are many (for both leaving my school and hoping to come specifically to this school) and I have as aptly as possible expressed them in my essay. So, what say you?
