<p>In addition to top tier LACs Holy Cross, Bates, and Bowdoin, there are also a lot of great second tier schools that don't require SAT that are worth a hard look: Stonehill, Providence, Franklin & Marshall, WPI, Gustavus Adolphus, St Lawrence, Rollins, Pitzer. All excellent schools where you will get solid educations.</p>
<p>Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) a well repected engineering school in Massachusetts also recently went SAT optional.</p>
<p>Providence has division 1 athletics (Big East and Hockey East conferences) and is SAT optional</p>
<p>I wasn't aware that Providence is SAT optional as well. Is that new this year?</p>
<p>This year's freshman class at Providence was the first to have that option.</p>
