Top LACs

which LAC(s) are/is best for investment banking in nyc

just curious

thanks

Just Williams and Amherst. Williams>Amherst with regards to this.

Williams places unbelievably well relative to its size. This is purely anecdotal, but every Williams grad I know that wanted to work at a BB got a full time offer. Same goes for top tier consulting firms. Williams is so chock full of wealthy, blue blood prep school grads-they’re def. part of the club.

I’ve heard (again, anecdotal) that Trinity actually places well despite not being an official target. Why? Because the kids who go to Trinity are loaded prep school grads…so, even if on campus recruiting is weak, it’s not hard to find a kid who’s parents are hedge fund managers or an MD at a BB.

I don’t go to Williams or Trinity, so no bias here. I just think people underestimate the importance of connections. I’ve known kids from non targets that worked as analysts at giant hedge funds right out of undergrad, purely because of parental connections.

I hear besides Williams and Amherst; Colgate, Middlebury and Hamilton place pretty well.

you heard wrong re: colgate and middlebury

Middlebury has an excellent placement rate at IBs.

ok acadia. we’ll just have to agree to disagree on this one…I don’t have any affiliation with any of the schools listed, just going but what I’ve seen

To OP: Pomona, Grinnell, Smith, Lehigh, Yeshiva (not sure if this is technically at LAC)

I agree with Wutang on his/her comments

Actually you did not hear wrong about Colgate.

Colgate alum here - Colgate graduates do very well in finance in NYC. It also has very good network. The school is more pre-professional than other LACs with great econ department.
