To clarify I’m a female in NY. GPA about 3.8, 9APs all 5s or 4s, 2150 on the SATs, 4 SAT subject tests all 770+. I’m looking to go into the science field, specifically something biology related. Biomedical engineering or maybe biochemistry.

In defense of the OP, I think it’s a reasonable, self-aware question. There are many places where students party in the dorms nonstop from Thursday through Sunday, and the non-partiers have to put up with the noise and the messes in the residence halls. If you don’t want to be around that kind of thing, it makes sense to seek out colleges where you can avoid it.

OP, you may also want to consider women’s colleges, which are usually not hotbeds of on-campus partying. Some are near or in big cities, where the students can go off campus for social life if desired. Your stats are competitive for the Seven Sisters.

Colleges with a heavy commuter population are likely to have less on-campus partying. On the other hand, they have less on-campus social life in other respects as well.

Yea check out Rice

I like vineh’s answer. You can avoid partying at any school if you want. Almost all schools have substance free dorms. You can pick and choose your activities and friends.

All three of my kids went to selective schools that had Greek life and partying. All knew kids that chose not to party. My S joined a frat that had several members that did not drink or indulge in any “party substance.”. That apparently wasn’t a problem to the frat or the student.

I think most non-religious schools will have both partiers and non. It is up to you to do what you want to do.

Agree with the top Womens’ colleges for less rowdy partying. Also,
Furman is supposed to be rather dry. Oberlin is surprisingly quiet in the party area although music is big.

All schools will have a party scene but at these it can be avoided easier :

Harvard, Yale, Columbia, UChicago, MIT, Caltech, Cornell, Johns Hopkins, WashU, Brown, Emory, UC-Berkeley, Carnegie Mellon, Tufts, Brandeis, Rice, William and Mary, Case Western, Swarthmore

What evidence do you have that it’s easier to avoid partying at these schools?

I can tell you Yale, Harvard, UChicago, MIT, Cornell, and Berkeley all party pretty hard. Not sure about the rest.

Like others have said, there’s going to be partying at any big school. It’s usually pretty easy to avoid it at any school, too. There are usually plenty of quiet places to study with no partying allowed, like, oh I don’t know, libraries.

I know for sure that Pepperdine in California has a very low key social scene. Don’t know where it stands in terms of your ranking criteria though.

^^^^^^
Actually just checked ***** and Pepperdine is ranked about 50. They have a 32% acceptance rate with a designation of “more selective”. Think about 3700 students. But on the beach in Malibu does it for me!

Johns Hopkins!

How about Baylor?

Check out the Claremont colleges, especially Scripps.
