Yale, Brown, and UChicago are always hard to predict. You have a lot of great experience on your activities and resume that definitely helps you stand out from the massive pool of people with the same stats as you though, which means you have a very very good chance at getting into the smaller private colleges that split hairs over applicants over things like that (Wesleyan). Honestly you will probably get into at least one of the 3 difficult schools I mentioned.
Chance back!
Pomona - yes
UPDATE: I was accepted into UVA’s honors program shortly after the acceptance, but never got a chance to say anything. My other acceptances were URichmond, Vassar, Wesleyan, and Swarthmore! Overall extremely happy with how the process went, even with the Pomona and UChicago waitlists and the Brown and Yale rejections.
Just thought I’d pop by and give some resolution to this thread and thank everyone once again for the kind words. I’m currently now trying to decide between Wesleyan, Vassar, and Swarthmore, so any wisdom on that would also be appreciated (though I’m planning on making new threads soon to discuss that specifically).
Though college admissions can be random, mine actually made a lot of sense as I got accepted at all of my schools with above a 10% acceptance rate and didn’t get into any of my schools with below a 10% acceptance rate. Like I said I’m really greatful for all my blessings and hope this can be of some help to any stressed out juniors/sophomores/(hopefully not) freshmen.
@berkdork, I went back and read your stats. My guess is you are very close for Pomona. Congrats on Swarthmore and others. All great choices! If your heart is at Pomona, I recommend you give it one last college try and write an enthusiastic letter to Pomona. Pomona wants to know they’re your first choice. If you show some love, I bet you’ll be successful there. True, your other choices are wowza as well. Congrats!
LAST UPDATE: I committed to Swarthmore a couple weeks ago and couldn’t be happier. I declined my spots on both waitlists as I didn’t want the “what if” scenario to run through my head and was content with Swarthmore anyway. Thanks again to those of you who helped me get here, I greatly appreciate it<3. Ecstatic that this process is finally over and that it ended the way it did!
