Top Nursing Schools in the Country

My sister, a junior, seems content to settle for Baylor University. That ain't good enough. She's a good student (rank:7/320, SAT:v:710;m:540- we'll work on her math. involved in lots of EC's) She can get into a top school. But she has her heart set on nursing and she will not apply to any school that isn't a nursing school.

So, what are the BEST schools in the country that offer nursing?

UCLA and Mt. Saint Mary's (across the street from UCLA)

but UCLA may not be so realistic since you're out of state, but they have a very good program

My (male) cousin goes to Mt. Saint Mary's. There is a shortage of nurses and they are trying to encourage more people to take nursing. Mt. Saint Mary's is mostly all-girls except for nursing and other grad level studies. He is a guy and was able to get a substantial scholarship to Mt. Saint Mary's (with decent grades and 1300). His parents are paying less than 8k... I'm not exactly sure the exact amount but I know the scholarship was great.

Here's the US News ranking: http://www.usnews.com/usnews/edu/grad/rankings/hea/brief/nur_brief.php

that ranking is for master's. some master's programs are for people who already have an RN and/or BSN. i don't know if there are any rankings for best undergrad nursing programs

oooh, thanks people. I read your rejection thread awakenedream - i'm really sorry.

hikkifan: lol which rejection thread? (i think i made a lot, or i don't remember, lol) but thanks

i'm just wondering, what made your sister want to pursue nursing?

suny binghamton excellent nursing program

"i like to talk to people; i'm good at consoling people; and uh i think nursing's a good way to do that, and also being diabetic and all i'm not scared of blood and needles or anything like that and, in fact, i really like to see all that stuff. and what i really want to be is an instrumental nurse where i can be in a surgical bay and pass the doctor the instruments and watch the operations. I like gore."

what she said - verbatim

lol. your rant, awakenedream, titled Can Someone Explain This To Me? What A Messed Up World!

Whoa. I just realized you weren't talking about yourself. Ohhhh. Wait, so how's your college search going?

hikkifan: Oh ya, that thread was about my unfortunate friend. But I'm not doing too bad, I'm planning to attend the University of California, Santa Barbara, in the Fall. I'm pretty happy and excited about it.

that's good awakenedream. whoa, how did this get all the way to page 3 in a matter of hours? BUMP

The top programs that I am aware of are:

Johns Hopkins University
University of Illinois-Chicago
University of Michigan-Ann Arbor
University of Pennsylvania
University of Washington

All of those programs are amazing.

just an update - we decided on Johns Hopkins University, Boston College, and SUNY Binghamton
