Top public universities are becoming disproportionately whiter & richer

Someone may have mentioned this before but I haven't read the entire thread, Miami U of OH is offering free tuition to any student whose family makes $35K or less. This should really help increase diversity.

I agree with Northstarmom that skin color alone brings diversity. People of color in the US, no matter how wealthy or advantaged has had to deal with racism and can bring that perspective to a campus.

Ok, I wrote the above really fast and was iffy with grammar. I hope we all know that people of color in this country deal with racism all the time and the rest of us can benefit from hearing about it, just as women deal with certain issues and men deal with a whole set of other issues and I hope we all want to learn something from this.

Bethievt--ok, then how about ugly vs. beautiful people? Short or tall? Fat or skinny? How about the poor rich kid who has few peers and has been shuttled of to caretakers all his life and hasn't had the benefit of a loving family? How about someone with a huge nose, cleft palate, bad teeth?

How about a bad dresser or a fashion-plate? Big feet, hunchback, one-arm, shaved head, dreadlocks, pierced nose, fake boobs, blond hair, curly hair, unibrow, acne, perfect bone structure....and on and on it goes.
