Top/Reachable Computer Science Schools

Hello again All,

I've posted a couple of times here regarding my concern to transfering to a 4 year college from a community college.

Today a friend offered to pay for applications to top schools if I desire to do so. I personally think I won't be considered to any schools, but the person says they believe my experiences might make me a candidate. Again I definitely feel as if I won't make it into anything, but the opportunity came up and I'll take it.

So searching for top schools I feel as if I definitely won't make it into the best known schools such as MIT, Stanford, UCLA. So what schools do you recommend with good CS programs? I did a search here in the forums but don't know what would be the best schools to apply. The person helping me said to apply to 6 top schools.

So about me...
Student at a virginia community college. 3.6 GPA in computer science. Had a low C due to taking an online calculus course. Work as an intern at a big software company. I'm spanish. I got a gold star award for volunteer services. I done quite a bit of extra curricular activities too.

So again I doubt I have a chance but if you were to be in this position what top computer science schools would you apply to?

UIUC, USC, UT-AUSTIN, and UW are all top comp sci schools within your reach.

Guest15 gave you choices that might work academically. Unfortunately, I doubt they will work for you financially. Public, state-funded universities do not typically give much aid to out of state residents.

If you currently live in Virginia, your own state has excellent universities. And in fact, both Virginia and Virginia Tech have such excellent programs. You would be lucky to go to either. Many students around the country are applying to get into them. And you should check out all of your state universities and apply to a couple that are easier to get into as well.
