Just wanted to give a heads up.
@Mom2aphysicsgeek Congratulations! It is an awesome program! Enjoy the Top Scholar Weekend!
Thanks! I still can’t believe she was invited! So much excitement here right now! :D/
What state do you live in? And what are your Ds stats??
We live OOS 10 hrs away in a very small town.
I don’t post my kids’ stats publicly, but she is a strong student with international level awards.
@Mom2aphysicsgeek Did the invitation come via email or regular mail? Congratulations!
@3kidsinMA Thanks! It was FedExed.
I got the letter too! Overnight FedEx. Beyond stoked. I am a little confused, though, because I haven’t gotten into honors yet? Weird. Regardless I am excited!
What state are you from? @connorf13
Anyone know whether they send out rejection letters/emails?
@Gamecock757 GA
@itsgettingreal17 I called earlier today and I was told that students will be notified via mail even if they are not accepted into Top Scholars. I imagine they wouldn’t bother to overnight the rejections though.
Any in-staters receive the FedEx envelope or even mail yet?
Top scholar here. In-state, overnight delivery.
Makes sense that they’d send all invites out at the same time if using fed-ex, regardless of home state. Congrats to all those that were selected!!!
Is it possible to still receive an invite if we didn’t yesterday? Do they go out in waves? I am on the west coast, so a bit further away.
They do not go out in waves. They go all at once. However, these students have a week or so to confirm that are participating (required to receive scholarship). In the past (and therefore only take this as a possibility or call and ask) I think that if some kids turn it down due to conflict or decided otherwise, they might send out invites to replace those students, but that would be only a student or two.
Does anyone know if our parents are supposed to come with us for the weekend? I’m in-state, so it wouldn’t be a big deal for me to go by myself but I’m not sure if I’m supposed to.
@scmom12 I spoke with the Admissions Office yesterday and I was told that only some of the Top Scholars letters had been sent out as of Thursday. Additionally, I heard from a friend who spoke with her admissions counselor today that final decisions were still being made on some applications.
^^Interesting. Hence the advice to call and ask. Things change from year to year! All anyone here can do is tell you how it worked for them or in their admissions process.
And yes, a parent usually comes. There is stuff for them to attend as well. I went with D and we are in-town.
