Starting this thread for anyone planning to attend either the March or April session. Traveling with D from Boston for the March session. It’s our first visit to New Orleans and we can’t wait to see the city and campus - and experience some warm weather. So much to do it’s hard to know where to start! Would be great to hear where others are coming from.
Great idea, @jmek15. Since every year there are always a lot of people asking what you did on the other thread, I thought it might be useful to copy it over to here where those same people are more likely to see it…
The following might be useful for people asking what to do with free time outside of the scheduled events… First, here is the link to last year’s TSW reviews. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/tulane-university/1601854-top-scholars-honors-weekend-march-2014-p4.html I would especially note reviews starting at post #62.
Here is one response to a question much like yours: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/discussion/comment/16688821#Comment_16688821

If you want more info on anything mentioned in those posts, ask away! But definitely take the streetcar from end to end if you can. I think it is one of the best ways to get a feel for what the kids have access to in the immediate area plus downtown, especially if you hop off the streetcar around the Camillia Grill and walk back along Oak and Maple Streets, and then take the time later to check out Audubon Park and Magazine Street. With a couple of exceptions like City Park, that will give everyone an excellent sense of 90+% of the kinds of off-campus “stuff” there is for the students. That’s assuming that you were going to take in the French Quarter and Frenchman Street anyway.
My husband and daughter are attending in March. We visited before she applied and loved the campus, the city, and the food.
Although he ended up elsewhere, my son (and wife) went last year and had a very positive experience. My son absolutely loved NOLA.
One major perk of the weekend is the opportunity to enroll in classes ahead of the rest of the entering freshman class. One can create the perfect schedule, without the frustration of getting closed of specific courses/sections (which occurs everywhere, as best I can tell).
Anyway, congrats to all who are going.
