Doing this post as an experiment, as I know these kinds of questions are subjective - there’s really questions of fit and it’s more like top schools for a given student, etc. I believe the education someone gets is as much a product of how the student approaches things as the institution institution itself - probably more so even.
That said, what school do you feel deserves consideration as the top program for undergrad jazz voice? Feel free to add some thoughts on why if you have them. If a few pop to mind as in the same league, what are they?
Completely subjective! I’ve heard amazing things about the programs at Temple, the New School, USC, and U. Miami Frost. Berklee too, although mostly for contemporary vocals rather than jazz per se. Any vocalist parents want to chime in? My son is a jazz instrumentalist.
Agree with the above comments. Daughter is at New School and has grown exponentially. She applied and was offered admission with $$$ to Frost, NEC, Western Mich and many others. These programs area all very different from one another with the exception of Frost and Western Mich which I think are very similar programs focusing more on jazz choirs which my D didn’t like but are excellent in teaching technique etc.
