Top School in NYC

I'm not good at tracking colleges, so I'm wondering if people can help me out.

What are some top engineering colleges/universities in New York City (maybe Long Island too).

Should have good engineering programs and being well known helps.

Columbia comes to mind…

Cooper Union…

^ and there you have it.

If you’re looking for top engineering schools in NYC, there are only these two. If you want to come down a notch, there is Stevens (in Hoboken NJ, literally across the river from Manhattan), and NYU Poly in Brooklyn (also just across the river). On Long Island, you have NYIT and Stony Brook, neither being considered top schools for engineering. Just two weeks ago, Hofstra announced the formation of a new school of engineering with co-op program. Should be promising but it won’t be ready for a couple years.

I would add Manhattan College to the list as well, but it’s nowhere near the level of the Cooper Union and Columbia.

EDIT: In the interest of full disclosure, I’m an alumnus of the Cooper Union and Columbia.

CUNY City College? It’s not top but it’s cheap.

Within the city:
Columbia
Cooper Union
NYU-Poly
CUNY City
CUNY College of Staten Island (offer CpE, ME, and CE)
[Department of Engineering Science and Physics at CSI](http://www.apsc.csi.cuny.edu/csiengdp/welcome/welcome.html)

CUNY City Tec <— don’t offer B.S engineering. They offer associate and Bachelor technology which is not engineering degree.

Manhattan College <==== I didn’t know it has engineering school! Cool
Fordham (a 3-2 program).
Pace - offers CS and Chemistry & Chemical engineering (not sure if they are ACCREDITED or not)

Outside the city:
SUNY Stony Brook
SUNY Maritime College
NYIT (many campus locations, severals are in the city)
Adelphi University (Long Island as well)
