top schools dont have undergrad business programs...what to do...

I've been looking @ a lot of colleges such as tufts and columbia and they don't have a business school and majors such as finance. What do people at these schools usually study if they want to go into finance when they graduate? The only major that seems close enough to me is economics...

econ seems to work fine for HYP folks, although at places of that caliber, you can major in just about anything and make wall st.

Princeton's also got a very strong Finance certificate.

Look into Operations Research and Financial Engineering at princeton, course 15 at MIT, and management science and engineering at stanford

try economics.

try Wharton, Princeton's ORFE, or Cornell.

you beat me to it eighteenforluck haha

unc-chapel hill has an amazing business program

is ORFE the same thing as an econ degree? in terms of skills attained, is it similar to MIT's Sloan undergrad as they both have a heavy emphasis on mathematical modeling and finance

At Princeton, Econs leads to a Bachelor of Arts degree and ORFE a BSE degree. they are a little different from each other because with ORFE you have to fulfill the requirements of the school of engineering too. to compare between MIT's Sloan and Princeton's ORFE you have to do a little bit of reading:
MIT course 15: http://web.mit.edu/catalogue/degre.manag.ch15.shtml
Princeton ORFE: http://www.princeton.edu/pr/catalog/ua/05/461.htm

it's called UPENN Wharton

but the OP specified "[]top[] schools" (a little princeton humor).

Do you want to do an undergrad business program or do you want to launch a career in finance? You do not need the first in order to do the second. Wall Street is loaded with Ivy grads who majored in all sorts of subjects. All of these firms recruit heavily at the Ivies. As undergrads, students excellent junior-summer internships in all the big firms. And you have an amazing alumni network that will help you along. It's helpful but not essential to take courses in econ and finance. Later on you are likely to go for an MBA.

If you like Wharton, great; excellent program and reputation. But otherwise, choosing a lesser school simply because it has a business major makes no sense to me.
