Top Schools for Education Major

What small schools(6,000 or under) on the east coast are highly regarded for education? Currently, I am only aware of TCNJ, since I live in New Jersey. Are there any other well regarded institutions for future teachers?

Swarthmore has a strong Education department with certification for secondary school teaching in Pennsylvania.

For elementary school certification, you take the Education program and do your student teaching at Swarthmore. But, following graduation from Swat, you take two summer school courses in a cooperative program at Eastern College (cost = $2650) to get your elementary certificate.

Look at the schools associated with CETE, the Consortium for Excellence in Teacher Education:
Barnard
Bowdoin
Brandeis
Brown
Bryn Mawr
Connecticut College
Dartmouth
Harvard
Middlebury
Mount Holyoke
Princeton
Smith
Swarthmore
University of Pennsylvania
Vassar
Wellesley
Wheaton
Yale

If you are a NJ resident and you are interested in teaching, I would look at TCNJ, Rutgers, Rowan, Montclair, Stockton, Ramapo, William Paterson. BTW, I just happened to have heard some very nice things about R. Stockton's special education major. I don't know about their regular education major.

Temple & West Chester come to mind...

Stonehill College in Easton MA. 2500 kids. A large number of teachers in our public school district went there and seem to be good teachers and generally smart people.
