Top schools for the partyer...

Northeast/New England schools-Williams, Dartmouth,Holy Cross,Colgate. All have strong traditions of good athletics(Ivy/Patriot League), strong academics, and great alumni networks.

*Stanford is not a party school. Where did this misconception originate from? *

I don’t think people are saying that Stanford is a stereotypical “party school.”

The OP’s question is about “Top schools” for a student who enjoys some partying. It would make sense that a Pac 10 football school would have some partying going on during home game weekends.

Are you saying that the campus is quiet - no tailgating - no partying - on game day weekends?

If so, why is there a market for these Stanford tailgating items and a tailgating parking map?

Do you think that only non-students are tailgating and partying?

I don’t know if the arrest at UND necessarily means it’s a party school. If they arrested everyone at a party, then 61 people were not really that big of a crowd. The arrest itself probably means UND has a tough administration with the campus police actively enforcing the law.

" And have you heard of the Indiana State Excise Police? They are a special police task force with the mission of cracking down on drinking."

there are 2 schools in indiana on the princeton reviews top party schools list. i go to one of them, and i havent even heard someone mention excise. at my school at least, the campus police deal with most things, unless a non-student calls the cops.
my friend at notre dame isnt a crazy partier, he still gets good grades, but hes kinda a partier. i’ve heard they’re kinda strict but often that doesnt stop people

Actually, I don’t know how much they party at the University of North Dakota (UND). The University of Notre Dame is abbreviated as ND, not UND.

I don’t feel like arguing right now, but I’ll just say that while some people choose to party, there is not a party school atmosphere. All of the dorms are entirely single sex. There are no faternities or sororites at ND. The Office of Residential life is notorious for lashing out harsh punishments for being caught drinking or smoking. Oh yeah, ND also has security and cops going through the tailgates before games with the intention of cutting down on some of the drinking (eg. they won’t let you shot gun beers).

Since this is CC, I could understand how people’s notions of party schools are skewed. Partying goes on at nearly every college in America. At certain schools, it is vastly more popular (eg. UF vs. Princeton). If you guys seriously think Stanford tailgating is good, please go down to Oxford, Mississippi and tailgate for an Ole Miss game. Stanford doesn’t have anything on SEC tailgating (Vandy doesn’t count).

Definitely Lehigh. One of the biggest greek schools and is in the top 40 in USNews.
