What schools consider Asian indians URM( I ask this because this also qualifies as a student of color). Particarly I guess top 30 universities in both LAC’s and Universiites. In addition, do they make concerns to diversify their school more…?

I don't really think asian indians would be urm's, because I think they're very plentiful in their school's applicant pools, but some one correct be if i'm mistaken...

thanks, other thoughts on this topic

jmarsh is right, unfortunately, as I am an azn myself.

notre dame and vanderbilt would be schools like that. they are in need of diversity and this includes asians

But would (Asian) Indian have any advantage at all for the sole reason of being a minority, even if not an URM?

they will have the advantage because they are considered to be URM's at certain schools such as most LAC's and southern schools like vanderbilt. they are actively trying to get kids from diverse backgrounds because their schools have around 80% Caucasian populations

Some other schools looking for Asians- William & Mary, Carleton College, Middlebury College (at Midd, 10% of International applicants get through, 22% of Whites, and 65% of colored applicants~ which includes Asians)... These were all schools that I applied to and had success with.

There was a thread a while back that listed top schools with the lowest percentages of Asian students. You guys should try to find that thread. Best of luck,

TTG

Do you guys think they differentiate between "browns" and "yellows" (btw. south asians and others)? I dont think its fair to group them as one.

desiboi, unless there is a spot that differentiates the two on the application, i think they will be regarded as one as the same. i don't think it's fair either, but that's how it is.

dont asian indians also count as "students of color" I guess an even more minority kind of quota when you consider specific sub-categories of 'Asian'

They would be at colleges where they are not well represented. Think schools Asians are not attracted to in large numbers, schools that aren't big names.
