I'm a philosophy major and I was really looking at Cornell but it seems that their acceptance rate for CAS is around 6-7 %, I'm arts minded so which school has a high acceptance rate?

I think Cornell is your best chance since they do have a high transfer rate. I agree that CAS and engineering are the hardest to get into. I got into CAS last semester but I’m not sure how. I think you should expand your outreach!

Emory, Rice, Vandy, Wake Forest. Depends on what you consider top schools. If your definition is Ivy or better (aka top 15), then Cornell, even with 6-7% is going to be one of the highest.

Thanks Cordova for your input, I’ll definitely go ahead for Cornell. Also applying to Rice, Northwestern, USC, and Vandy. February is going to be hell!!! :)

USC is like 30%

Columbia also has a hi transfer rate

^

im not sure where you got that from, columbia admits approximately 5-10% of transfers in any given year. for fall 2010 admission, the acceptance rate was 7%, and after the introduction of the commonapp for the 2010-2011 cycle, it was probably even lower than that

I think that’s Columbia General Studies…

There are a reason these schools have low transfer rates haha, because they don’t take anyone. If they took a lot of people would they be so prestigious? No. So Columbia school of general studies has a much higher acceptance rate than CC, so go check out that program. Also Cornell has many schools, but the regular college of arts and sciences is very hard to transfer into. Other schools in cornell are “easier” to get into. USC is an amazing school and its in Cali… enough said.

It also all depends on your numbers. If you have a 2300+ and a 3.9+, you’ll can realistically get into penn, columbia, and cornell. Transfers admissions is extremely number oriented. To get into harvard or yale as a transfer you need to just be a beast. They seem to take so many from vandy… i dont know why.

^ I know. I heard about that. People I know told me about a “few” people who transferred to Harvard from here (vandy). One is impressive. Anything more is just insane.

Better be an top ranked NCAA athlete w/2000+ SATs to transfer to Yale or Harvard.

Run of the mill 3.95 GPA from a top 30 school and 2200+ SATs, transfer to Yale or Harvard, fuggetaboutit.

^3.95 and a 2200? You mean 4.0 and 2400.
