I’m looking to apply to Summer @ Brown and I want to know which courses are the best ones (any type are fine but I’m looking into hardcore medical stuff)

If you can be specific that would be great! Any information is welcome.

I attended this last year, and I took Economic Growth and Development. It was alright, not the greatest but definitely not the worst. (Was a 2 week program). If you are looking at 2 week programs, I would suggest not doing the other Econ course. I heard that the “To Be Human” philosophy course was excellent, and the comedy course is good (if you’re funny, that is; my friends complained to me many times due to unfunny members of the class). Good luck!

As far as med courses go, So You Want To Be A Doctor is supposed to be great. Huge, but great. One of my friends took it and got to watch dissections and stuff. Very hardcore.
I took Themes from Existentialism and it was FABULOUS, but philosophy may not be up your alley.

I took So You Think You Want To Be A Doctor? last summer, and it was the best three weeks of my life. You learn a lot, have TA’s who are in medical school, the professor pretty much wrote the curriculum for Brown’s med school, and you get to have your hands in side of a cadaver… multiple times. I made some absolutely amazing friends and had a wonderful time. You can sign up for trips like Yale and Boston, but my friends and I went to Boston on our own one weekend and it was so much fun. You can also go to Newport one day, which is so cool to see the mansions and go to the beach (it was a BEAUTIFUL day last year). Providence on the fourth of July is really cool, and they have the water fire thing some nights. Providence has the largest mall in New England, and everything is all really accessible to you. Highly recommended, though expensive.

I took Themes from Existentialism last summer. It was taught by the department chair of the philosophy department, and it was one of the best classes I’ve ever taken. I would absolutely recommend it, even if you’re not really particularly interested in straight up philosophy.

I also took Modern and Contemporary International Short Fiction and it was… decent. I’d read most of the stories before and it was taught by a quiet but knowledgeable grad student. I wouldn’t exactly recommend it, but I guess you could do worse.

I’m looking to do a history course for either 2 or 3 weeks. I’m considering “History in Fact, History in Film WWII-1980”, “A-Bombs, Milkshakes and Love-Ins: Decades of Change in America, 1940-1970”, “The U.S in World Politics” and maybe “The Crusades”. If anyone has any experience or any recommendations that would be great, thanks.

I just got accepted and I am also interested in what are some of the best courses?
I have an interset in HR, business or pshycology, I especially love interacting with others and communication.
Here are some courses on my to-choose list:
Organzitional behavior
Human genetics and behavior (maybe too science for me?)
Community psychology
4.Social psychology
any help would be greatly apprciated
