Hi!! any recommendations for MT major schools would be greatly appreciated.

go to the FAQ link above for a state by state listing of all mt schools that we are aware of. The read the FAQ, then browse this complete forum. Good luck, but that is how to begin this process.

I've heard great things about NYU (my friend's sister went there for musical theater). And Indiana University is astounding for acting, plus they have a top Music School.

Here are the eight schools I am applying for:
1. Roosevelt University
2. Boston Conservatory
3. University of Miami
4. University of Cincinnati
5. Penn State
6. Indiana University
7. North Texas University
8. Catholic University

Cincinnati & Chicago are very good, I am in love with chicago because of location and other things. Cincinnati is great but they cut students after every year if you aren't "up to par" Miami is wonderful (and expensive) Penn state is also really good but along with musical theatre studies students have academic classes. Indiana & North Texas is better for vocal Jazz(which I am also applying too) and Catholic is good... and in the heart of D.c. Im 30 mins. from DC so thats nice for me!

also try Carnegie Mellon, Boston University, and Ithica.
Many Musical theatre students apply to most of these schools, but many will agree Cincinnatti and Chicago are the most competitive and well known in the musical theatre world.

Hope this helps!

You should PM Shauna to get information about U of North Texas. Shauna transferred to OCU from UNT because UNT discontinued their MT department.
