Hey guys I have been really interested in prep schools and I your opinion on what you guys think are the most prestigious prep schools.

If your name is actually Andrew Shea, you need to change it on this site to something anonymous. Lots of people read this, including some admission’s personnel from the schools.

Okay, it’s a rainy day. It would be ridiculous to try to rank these schools in order, so here goes:

Andover
Eton
Exeter
Groton
Harrow
Hotchkiss
Leysin American School
Le Rosey
St. Paul’s (NH)
Westminster (London)

I’m prepared to face the music for Institut Auf Dem Rosenberg and Deerfield not making the cut, but op did want only the ten “most prestigious” schools.

Like Charger, I’m not putting these in order of what school is best

Hotchkiss
Hill
SPS
Dana Hall
Cate
Thacher
Culver
Episcopal
Andover
Tabor

Some sweet water-front property here, Confused. Including Culver. Well, prestige exists in the eye of the beholder, so I’m giving this one to you based on the school’s legion of followers in Illinois, Indiana, and among the former military junta families of Latin America! (wink wink)

Prestige.

Hotchkiss
Andover
Exeter
SPS
Le Rosey
Eton
Harrow
Groton
Deerfield
Westminster

No order.

@charger78 I have a friend at Leysin and it is far from prestigious. It has a 70% acceptance rate and is a place where all the girls have 4 or more Louis Vuitton purses.

@prepschoolplease like charger said, prestige exists in the eye of the beholder

The Ten Schools Admission Organization schools are all fairly good, in my opinion. Of course, some of them are probably more top 20/top 30 “quality”, but I think it’s still a good starting point if you’re looking for good prep schools!

They are as follows:
(as listed on the website, in alphabetical order)

Choate Rosemary Hall
Deerfield Academy
The Hill School
The Hotchkiss School
The Lawrenceville School
The Loomis Chaffee School
Phillips Academy
Phillips Exeter Academy
St. Paul’s School
The Taft School

Hill, Loomis, and Taft don’t really compare to the others (IMHO, please don’t hurt me.)

Yes, maybe… There are probably definitely much better schools not on the list, but I still think they are good choices!

Are we talking day or boarding? Check out the Forbes lists.

Pretty much what this article says:

“When people speak of traditionally “elite” boarding schools, they refer to the reputation and prestige of the school. And since reputation takes time to build, the oldest schools are usually also the most elite and are often thought ofas the traditional preserves of the privileged and wealthy.
The “Elite Eight” are widely known to be:
Phillips Andover Academy, Andover, MA
Choate Rosemary Hall, Wallingford, CT
Deerfield Academy, Deerfield, MA
Phillips Exeter Academy, Exeter, NH
Hotchkiss School, Lakeville, CT*
Lawrenceville School, NJ
St. Paul’s School, Concord, NH…* (Group of Seven schools in the Northeast plus … the next listed school …)
Groton School, MA*(make up the Elite Eight)”

“Elite Tier: St. Paul’s * Groton * Exeter * Andover * Deerfield * Hotchkiss * Choate * Lawrenceville
First Tier: Milton * St. Andrew’s * Middlesex * Peddie * Taft * St. George’s*
Second Tier: Thacher * Cate * St. Mark’s * Episcopal * Loomis Chaffee * Woodberry Forest * Webb * Northfield Mount Herman * Kent * Blair * Tabor * Cranbrook”

I would move SGS and Peddie to the second tier, and Thacher and Cate to the first tier though.

Interestingly, the “top ten ivy league” mentioned in the article is pretty consistent with the CC-renowned acronym that is GLADCHEMMS.

I’m biased, but Trinity would be my top choice. Are we talking about boarding schools or day schools, because that is an entirely different list.

In my opinion Phillips Academy Andover (Andover, Massachusetts) is at the top of the list.
Phillips Exeter Academy (Exeter, New Hampshire), The Hotchkiss School (Lakeville, Connecticut), Deerfield Academy (Deerfield, Massachusetts), The Middlesex School (Concord, Massachusetts) and St Paul’s School (Concord, New Hampshire) are all top schools. Choate Rosemary Hall (Wallingford, CT), Miss Porters (an all girls school in Farmington CT), Groton School (Groton, MA) and Milton Academy (Militon, MA) are excellent schools but are not as good as the ones previously named.

^Groton = not as good? Wut u smoking

I would say
Philips Academy Andover
Phillips Exeter
Choate
Deerfield
Groton
SPS
Lawrenceville
Milton
Hotchkiss
Middlesex or Concord
At least for coed schools
