question, does the tuition you get to a particular college stay the same for all 4 years you go to that school?? Or does it change from yr. to yr.?

Business Week Online is doing a more proficient method of ranking the top business schools at the undergraduate level in the country. It is going to be much better than USNews because it takes in many more factors into account.

Everyone should check it out, it comes out on April 27th at 5pm, so this Thursday.

I got a letter a couple days ago from the Univ. of Illinois-Chicago, who said that BusinessWeek ranked their business program 68th or something like that. And I remember seeing that they were ranked at about 68th-70th in the 2005 U.S. News rankings for undergraduate business programs.

So I doubt there's gonna be huge changes.

bearsfolife, tuition changes yearly--though sometimes the increases are limited once you are in. That is why you sometimes see different fee schedules depending on which year you started school.

Hey guys,
Quick question..My dad thinks that regardless of how high a school is ranked, if its public, then its not as prestigious as a private school for business that it is.. I think thats completely false.. what are your opinions on this? I mean Haas and Ross are public.. they're prestigious arent they?

I live in texas, so i'd like to go to mccombs, but my dads pretty set on stern.. they are both ranked 5 though? Would I really be better off going to stern plus paying the you know 30,000 extra or so that i would have to pay to attend nyu..

What are your opinions on this?

Public schools definetly can be as prestigious as private, (Mich, UVA, UNC, + others). In regards to Mccombs vs. Stern, I would say if you plan on doing i-banking, Stern is probably worth it. For anything else, McCombs should be fine and Stern just isn't worth the money.

yea, i jus called Univ. of Illinois and the guy told me the tuition i have for my first yr. is the same for the whole time I am there, but he said, the fees will change from yr. to yr.(anywhere from $500-$800) for that school as of recent yrs.

your dad is insisting on Stern, just go if he is paying. different people will say different things, but I say attend Stern. if you put in the effort it will all be worth it.

hmm.. ya true.. doesnt stern have horrible grade deflation though? is that true?

and really.. mccombs over stern for everything except ibanking zippo?

I was just wondering if anyone could give me any suggestions of what school to attend in the fall... I am going to major in Business Management and I've narrowed my choices down to: Villanova, Northeastern, Boston Univ., or Binghamton-->(suggested by a few teachers who went there). If anyone has any advice it would be greatly appreciated.

I have just been accepted to University of Arizona and Michigan State University.
I am a business marketing major and i am looking for a fun yet reutationable university.

I have done my research, an UA and MSU ranks almost the same under "US News 2006 undergraduate business program".

I haven't been to either campus but i hear MSU's campus is great because it is an agricultural college. But UA is based in tuson, AZ, and i have seen pics of the campus and it looks great.

I know that the party scenes are also great at UA and MSU.

Academic wise, UA and MSU holds about the same also. Does anyone know if majority of students at UA or MSU are smart (i mean will influence ur future) or are they just a bunch of average Joes??????????

But i think MSU hold it over UA for reputation wise, i mean it isn't a bad school.

I got a scholarship to UA for three years but never got one from MSU.

PLEASE HELP ME MAKE A DECISION!!!!! I"M BEGGING SOMEONE, SHARE SOME WISEDOM!!!!!!!!

I posted on the other link that you had, but I will post again. Go to MSU from an indian friend of mine who went there, MSU Broad is really god in Business and there is good grade inflation, My friend is now at Yale LAw school. Also, if it matters to you he said there was a good concentration of Indians at MSU.

Have you considered the weather differences--and where you will want to work?

Tucson is warm all year long and burning (115 degrees) in the summer, Michigan State is snow and cold, but nice in the summer.

Work-wise, most U of A people end up in Phoenix or LA, Michigan State people will go to Detroit, Chicago, or other Midwest areas with manufacturing companies.

Calcruzer brings up a really important point.

If anyone has any input I would love to hear it! Out of Villanova, Northeastern, and Fairfield, which do you feel is the best school for undergraduate business. If anyone has any rankings on these schools or any input I would love to hear it. Thank You very much

Villanova, although NEU has a COOP program which is ranked #1 and makes it stand out. Rankings have Nova at Top20 (BusinessWeek).

Northeastern's Business is rankings:

37 overall by Businessweek

13 by U.S. News for international business

4 by Forbes for Entrepreneurship

1 For High tech business by Computerworld

The question for you JMGT25 is where do you see yourself. Do you want to be in Boston or in a Philly suburb?

do u know which business schools allow you in as a freshman

Well, there are many that allow everyone in as a freshman--and then there are a few that allow nobody in as a freshman--and then there are some that allow the top students in directly as freshman, but require the rest of the class to apply for admission later.

Going by the group I know.

All as freshmen:
NYU
MIT
USC
Purdue
Pitt
Fordham
Bentley
Michigan State
Penn State

Some as freshmen:
Michigan
Indiana
UC Berkeley

None as freshmen (this doesn't include those in honors programs):
Texas
Washington
Virginia (not positive on this one)
North Carolina (not positive on this one either--but pretty sure)

I'll let people going to the other top schools comment on them--let's go you Penn, Notre Dame, Emory, Carnegie-Mellon, Cornell, Wisconsin, Ohio State, Babson, Northeastern, Maryland, Minnesota, Georgetown, Wash Univ SL, Brigham Young, etc. people

stern, wharton, tepper... Are u sure Sloan takes freshmen? i thought u had to apply after getting into MIT
