What schools have the top undergraduate chemistry programs? I assume the usual suspects, but are there any in particular that are outstanding?

You should do a search for titles for “undergrad chemistry”. I remember Caltech, MIT, Harvard at the top of the list.

Northwestern University

The truth is that anywhere which stresses research as a part of your education is going to be tops for undergraduate chemistry. Curriculum for undergraduates is quite standardized, though some schools have better teachers than others which is important and is not something you’ll find in rankings.

So to me, you should look at any usual suspect school that also makes research for undergraduates something which is integral to their experience and has faculty members who are strong teachers. Access to graduate level course work is advantageous as well.

FWIW, I just completed my Sc.B. in chemistry.

I’m guessing the usuals: Harvard, CalTech, MIT, Cornell, Chicago (the big science heavy schools)

Berkeley is number one from what I’ve read.

although not undergrad rankings, the graduate rankings also tell you the quality of a school’s chem dept.
