hey,
i have a really good old score (out of 1600) but apparently everyone wants the new sat. i'm taking them in late january but i was just curious if any of you guys know top universities that don't require sat's. i'm coming from a california community college

did you take the writing SAT II? i figured that since i took the two-section SAT and the writing SAT II in 2003, i'd be okay...is old SAT + writing SAT II not considered comparable? my transfer advisor told me to just think of my score that way :X

my friend that transferred this past year used his old SAT I score plus SAT II Writing Score. If you've done the Writing test before, you shouldn't need to retake. If not, you may have to, which is strange b/c most colleges aren't even giving the Writing section much credit, but still recommend it.

I was accepted at schools last year with my old SAT scores and I didn't even submit my SAT II scores (or if I did, my writing score was really low... at least too low for Rice and Chicago); but I took the SAT IIs during the 11th grade, so I don't think they cared.

I am applying to UNC...i don't think they ask me to provide SAT scores

Johns Hopkins University - SAT optional for transfers (at least last year; check whether still true).

http://www.fairtest.org - Schools which are totally SAT/ACT optional. Includes many top LACs, if that interests you (eg, Bates, Bowdoin, Middlebury, Holy Cross....). You'll have to search through for unis that might interest you.
