Do you know any really good colleges with excellent art programs, preferably in the NY/NJ/PA area? I'd love to get into the RISD/Brown program, but that's practically impossible so I'd like to know schools with similar programs.

Check out Barnard, but on top of that this tool [2010 History of Art, Architecture, and Archaeology Rankings — PhDs.org Graduate School Guide](http://graduate-school.phds.org/rankings/art-history) may help you find schools that you may not find otherwise. I am of course making the possibly bad assumption that most of those schools with strong art history programs will have strong art programs across the board. Best of luck to you.

If you’d consider small liberal arts colleges look at Williams, Wesleyan, Hamilton, Conn College, Hamilton, Skidmore, Vassar, Kenyon, Oberlin. Smith if you are female.

Brown’s own art department is very good (apart from the RISD program) and Yale is excellent.
