I was filling out my apply texas essays and the two are basically the same, although the personal one adds "ways in which you might contribute to an institution committed to creating a diverse learning environment." so could i use the same essay for the two and tweak up the latter? or do i have to submit two different essays?

I was kinda wondering the same thing but if I could use my B essay for my personal essay since it answers both questions.

But I think the idea with the questions with the C essay and the scholarship essay being so similar is that the C essay is optional unless you want extra consideration - such as scholarship consideration. I know other Texas schools who use the Texas Common App just tell you to write the C Essay if you want to apply for scholarships, but maybe Texas A&M just wanted to make it more clear. I know that that doesn’t really answer your question but maybe it’ll help? In my opinion (this is not official at all), if they’re asking the same question then it’s only obvious that the same answer would suffice. Plus the people determining admissions (and therefore reading your admissions essays) might not be the same people determining how the university wide scholarships are given out. ;)

They are not the same essay. I would not write about the same topic. The first essay is about a person influcencing you. The second is about an issue affecting/influencing you. The third optional is to explain anything involving hardships…

Please don’t use the same essays on for the prompts even though you can. If you do, it just shows that you were too lazy to even think of another topic…

@marisarinkevich - i was thinking along the same lines, but just wanted to confirm it with someone else

@Xcellerator - i wouldn’t write the same essays if they were all different prompts. i thought we would only have the three you’re talking about, but there’s a fourth on that’s required because of the scholarships i chose to apply for

“Topic C: optional

You might include exceptional hardships, challenges, or opportunities that have shaped or impacted your abilities or academic credentials, personal responsibilities, exceptional achievements or talents, educational goals, or ways in which you might contribute to an institution committed to creating a diverse learning environment.”

The two are pretty close together, except the personal one omits some of the information.

Lol. My bad, I never applied for scholarships with essays… Yeah, those look identical. Probably one essay for those would do the job.
