"Topic of your choice" - Prompt necessary?

If I select the "Topic of your Choice," should I include my made up prompt to go along with it? I've read several samples where no prompt was listed; the writer just freely wrote.

No. A prompt should not be included. Personally, I would avoid topic of choice. It’s too broad and can be vague.

^Many people would beg to differ.

No, because as you write, your prompt will probably be obvious. I say go for it! =)

I mean, I believe my topic could be used to answer any one of the original 5 questions, but I think a made up “6th” would narrow it down more and give it more meaning.

Thanks for the input!

Most everyone I know chose topic of your choice. No prompt needed. A title is OK but not required.

Sometimes you’ll find that the topic of your choice will fall into one of the 5 preassigned prompts. That’s what happened to me! If you write freely, chances are your essay topic will convey one of those ideas.

Raiderade: hence the fact that I stated “personally”
