New SAT scores today. I had a 2240 before, do you guys think that these new ones will really help me out? I’m so confused by the way Bowdoin differentiates between things that are ‘very important’ and just ‘important.’ Like, do they jump up and down for high scores or not?

i think it will certainly help. if you submit SAT scores, they are an important consideration. it won't be dispositive but far better to have such an excellent score than not.

bowdoin doesn't require SAT scores - hence, it really won't help you all that much. they don't consider them nearly as important as other colleges do. so no, they wouldn't jump up and down. (i'm not saying that your scores aren't great or anything, just that bowdoin doesn't consider them as much. congrats, though!)

sorry to break this to you : )
but when i was talking to an admissions officer...who i talked to for like an hour and a half she said that test scores definitely do matter
if you send in scores that are high 600s they are neutral....they will not get you into Bowdoin but they help in that it is another thing that admissions knwo about you. they know that you are academically competitive in the pool of the applicants and there is no question as to how you fit into their pool
if you have scores higher than 730s than it will help you. having high test scores always boosts your chances
congrats tzar...im jealous
haha

What if you are Canadian?

will they just assume that you didn't take the SAT?

Tzar - Those are great scores!!! You should submit them as they tell Bowdoin that you have strong intellectual capabilities as measured by one well-established measuring stick. That measuring stick is far from the only one from Bowdoin's perspective but scoring as high as you have can't do anything but help . .
