Okay I'm really having trouble figure out what to write and what college really want to see.
I was thinking of the following:
1. I went to Argentina this summer and stayed with a host family and volunteered in hospitals and watched surgeries. So i experienced a different culture and was forced to rely on my Spanish as practically no one spoke English. But what exactly would i need to focus in on for this to make it a good essay? and is it too cliche?
2. I volunteer in the Emergency room at a local hospital and have seen people die, seen mothers lose all grip of reality when her daughter passed, people who have tried to kill themselves.
3. My uncle and aunt are heroin addicts and they basically hit rock bottom with everything spent on drugs and completely ruined their lives. They stayed with my family and i witnessed them going through withdraws and trying to be put through rehab.

So those are my ideas. Any help would be greatly appreciated because I really dont know what to write and how to write it.

well the first one would be good for a diversity essay… but the other ones are very generic. any other ideas?
