Topics to Avoid

I have heard that some topics should be avoided, i.e divorce…any other topics that should go on the “do not write about” list? Also, what about interesting topics that capture an admission officer’s eye? I would love advice from students who already went through the college process or any parents with experience! Thanks in advance.
