Torn between comp sci schools...

Hey guys,

Now that the decision dust has settled I'm left with a tough, tough decision to make. I've gotten into Carnegie Mellon, Cornell, Princeton, and a CS honors program at UT Austin. I know that in terms of pure CS ranking, CMU is the best of these schools. But their FA aid package is so lackluster (it will cost us $28k/year with the current package)-- leaves me leaning towards the Cornell and Princeton (dunno the exact offers yet, but if they're anything near Rice's it'll be easily affordable). Any information / advice that can help me make decisions? I'm visiting the three schools this month, but the question has been nagging at me so I'm hoping this will be a bit of relief.

Thanks in advance, I know this post is a bit premature with so many missing variables, but any input helps!

CS is pretty broad field of study these days. Have you given any thought to sub-specialty yet? That may help decide.

If you can afford Princeton, I can’t imagine why you’d want to even consider the other schools.

^ CMU’s comsci is one of the very best out there. But i’d go for Princeton though.

I would go for Princeton too if their financial aid is better.
