Well, I have a month until I have to make my final decision and I have narrowed my two school choices to NYU and UCLA. I currently live in SoCal, but not quite in LA proper. New York is my favorite city in the world, which is what brought me to apply to NYU in the first place.
I’m was accepted to both for a neuroscience major (looking for pre-med). The cost for me to attend UCLA is somewhere around $17k whereas NYU seems very… bleak on the financial aid front. However, I’ve heard that NYU has many internship opportunities, but I’m still a little apprehensive. I want some input on the pros and cons of each school.
UCLA.
NYU is expensive and notoriously stingy with financial aid. Unless your family is wealthy and think nothing of blasting through $160K, then just go to UCLA.
UCLA.
NYU is overrated.
Ucla, easy
Tough Choice, but the fact that you have to spend close to 50k more each year at NYU makes UCLA the clear winner. Plus, I’m almost positive UCLA has superior programs for Pred Med.
UCLA all the way.
No question. Save the $$ for med school.
^Not true. I think the OP should definitely go to UCLA, but not because of pre-med. NYU will just as well prepare someone for premed… pretty much any school in the top 200 will prepare a student well for pre-med.
UCLA. Lucky you!
UCLA. Visit NYC every few months with your savings…it will get old living there like a sardine.
@wordist I’m in the exact same situation as you are!!!
except that I’m majoring in psychology ( which is kinda similar to neuroscience anyways :stuckouttonguewinkingeye: ) Yeah… Considering money, academic, prestige… But I just really don’t want to give up NYC imagining all the internship opportunities and stuff lol
Have you made a decision yet?
