Torn with the Scandal

I’m curious. :)

I’d like to see the emails.

andybatts wrote a great letter and Dr Erickson really took the time to send him a personal, thoughtful response. I think this is a nice example of how at PSU, if you take some initiative and make an effort, you can be much more than just a number.

I’d love it if you could PM me the emails also!

Thanks for the emails andybatts. At the end of the day, your decision to attend a certain college is in your hands, not your guidance counselor’s. Penn State will remain an excellent institution academically, regardless of what path the investigation of the scandal may take. And job recruiters are clearly still interested, as noted in the response from Dr. Erikson. If you feel that Penn State is the best fit for you, then don’t let anyone persuade you otherwise: it’s still a great school and the actions/inactions of a few men can’t change that.

Good to know. Thanks for sharing this.

No problem. I felt this was not only a good thread for myself, but anyone else in the same situation.

Can you please pm it to me?

Oh, been on the road and just checked in. How cool that he responded to your email. I would love to read them if you don’t mind.

Sent them out just now.

andybatts-I would also like to see the emails, if it’s no trouble. Thanks.

Thanks again and be sure to let us know what you decide to do!

No problem. I will let everyone know! Right now PSU is in my top. Everyone has been great here and getting that email was a great feeling. It truly seems the school is working hard to turn itself around.

If anyone else wants the emails let me know.

andybatts, what are your other top choices?

My other top choices are: Boston University and Syracuse. I’m not sure about UConn because I haven’t visited yet. I visited PSU, Syracuse, and BU and got a great vibe from all.

UConn is great minus the location which sucks for me because it has everything I love! It’s in-state but still a good distance from home so I don’t mind that, but the surrounding farmland? I don’t know how well I’d deal with that, especially because I’d really like to get out of Connecticut.

Andybatts - I’d love to see the email.

And kudos to you for doing your research and not just listening to your guidance counselor.

sop520- Same with me but I’m from Long Island and I’m trying to go away.

Andybatts -
Thanks for letting me read your thoughtful letter. I’m glad you received a timely response. For what it’s worth, my son still loves PSU and wouldn’t want to be anywhere else!! Good luck with your decision!
