Torn.

I don't know how people are doing it, but I can't seem to decide on a college.

I keep thinking I've narrowed it down, but I need help!

I'm majoring in journalism (magazine) and the schools are NYU, BU, NEU, and UMCP. I understand that UMCP is statistically the best for journalism, but I have to consider my personal feelings about it--I want to be in a city and it's a bit too close to home. Though it is close to D.C, I'm still not in love with the idea of going there...What are your thoughts??

All of these schools provide opportunities and I could see myself in all of them (maybe with the exception of NYU...), but what else should I consider?

Any difference in cost?

Yes, scholarships from all except UMCP, although that is already cheap for in-state. Cost is luckily not a huge factor for my parents.

NYU and UMCP are the two best schools on this list by far. I would not pass either of them to go to BU or NEU.

I would opt for NYU personally, unless you really want the traditional Big University experience.

What are your reasons for passing on BU and NEU?

Because they are not in the same class academically as the other two. They also do not have the same amount of resources/connections that NYU or Maryland offer. I am also thinking about internships - NY or DC? Boston is a fine city, but its neither NY or DC, which are the two power centers of this country.

Someone else posted this site this morning-www.collegepick.us. Hope it helps!

Being close to a city means nothing in terms of internships or jobs. By that logic, NYU gets better internship opportunities than Harvard and MIT. Because NYC is “better” than Boston. Seriously, I have no idea why people think that. Employers come to you, or fly you down for free at their expense. Seriously. Has no one ever experienced this before?
