So i know its usually a no-no to use p2p file-sharing like bitcomet on college campuses as you are likely to get tracked and caught but is Megaupload/ Rapidshare okay?

I use the campus woreless network and I download from megaupload/rapidshare/mediafire almost everyday lol.

torrenting is blocked
you can still proxy

plus there’s a private dc++ hub that uses the intranet thru resnet
like 10mbps

How are the speeds on the campus’ network? Are they capped? What about usenet access?

so FOR SURE it is okay to rapidshare/megaupload on ucsb campus without getting caught?

There is no explicit ban on Rapidshare/Megaupload on [ResNet Responsible Use Policy](http://www.housing.ucsb.edu/resnet/responsible-use.htm) … and it’s not blocked.

But it does say you’re not supposed to download copyrighted material, regardless. So it depends on what you download, and you probably wont get caught either way.

thanks a lot for all the responses guys and gals!!!
