Has anyone had that laptop...what are the pros and cons? I'm currently considering that one and the IBM T43. One thing that worries me about the toshiba is the weight. It's around 7 pounds...how feasible is carrying that around the campus? Also, how reliable is it? I don't know much about computers and even less about Toshiba laptops. I know that IBM laptops are very reliable...but the Toshiba Satellite cost more than $300 less than the IBM. Any suggestions/advice?

People always talk about being concerned about carrying their laptop around but how much do you REALLY think you'll be carrying it around?

The Toshiba A60... is a pretty decent laptop. It does use a Celeron chip which many people are not fond of. Still for basic student functions, it should be OK. You'll need to add another 256M of memory to run XP and MS Office more efficiently.

The Toshiba weighs over 7 lbs. That's kind of heavy if you're determined to carry it around all day. More importantly, battery life is about 2 hours. You'll have to buy a spare battery or carry around the power brick to plug it in. I'm guessing your laptop will be staying more in your dorm room than being used elsewhere.

I'm really a big fan of IBM T-series laptops. I think they're really functional and light. Perhaps you'll consider a T42, which is pretty much the same as the 43, but cheaper.

thing is, i'm getting the ibm through a discount from my school, and i don't think they offer a 42. And can people tell me the pros and cons of Celeron as opposed to pentium? Thanks.

I love my t series

I hate Toshiba, I had a Satellite before i switched over to Macintosh, yes it turned me to Macintosh.. urg.

But i love toshiba.i think it wonderful, especially about its design.
high price is the disadvantage,i think.
