As of right now, these are the schools that have been accepted into and have sent my FAFSA to. Out of these four schools, only U of Minn and UIUC have offered me scholarship money: $5K per year. I haven’t heard back from Ohio State and Purdue stated that I was not eligible for scholarship consideration.
**Little background: Illinois resident, below average income (less than $24K/year).
If any other info is needed to make a more accurate decision, please let me know. Thank you in advance.
Do any of them have a net price (after subtracting scholarships and grants) under about $10,000 per year that you can stretch a federal direct loan and some work earnings to cover?
Even if affordable (seems unlikely), were you admitted to the CS major at each school? If not, then it may be difficult to get into the major (particularly at UIUC).
I think you are going to have to wait until your financial aid packages come in. As of right now unless there is information we don’t have none of these schools are affordable (“below average income (less than $24K/year)”). It sounds like at least in Purdue’s case that you may have applied after the scholarship deadline. Do you have other options that might be more affordable? If not I think you should look into that immediately and that includes community colleges. I think that as of this moment it not a question of where do you attend, it’s a question of can if you can afford to attend any of them? I am sorry I sound so harsh and wish you luck in the financial aid department.
In your other threads, you list a 3.77 GPA and 25 ACT. Are these still the same?
If you have earned a higher ACT or SAT score since then, you may want to see if any schools offering automatic full ride merit scholarships for stats still has the scholarships available as a financial backup: http://automaticfulltuition.yolasite.com/ (lowest threshold is 3.50 GPA and 26 ACT or 1760 SAT at Prairie View A&M)
