striking out gondalineNJ on both.

On CMU, perhaps you’ve seen this already, but this breakdown by school is interesting (last year): [Carnegie Mellon Admission | Admission Statistics](http://admission.enrollment.cmu.edu/pages/undergraduate-admission-statistics)
Note that the total apps double counts those who apply to more than one CMU school, so there are actually fewer individuals who apply (about half I think, or ~2 schools per applicant.)

gondalineNJ, re: 15-20 schools…you’re right, of course. But the only alternative is to somehow ensure that no one applies to more than, say, 9 schools. 3 safety, 3 match, 3 reach. If that can’t be enforced, then what? It escalates, and boom – we end up with a year like this one, with schools getting crazy numbers of applications.

Matriculation numbers will be very interesting this year.

what the heck, I’ll bank the Carnegie Mellon '16 schoool-by-school admit data also for future analysis (note that unlike Georgetown and others that only allow an applicant to apply to one school, CMU applicants can apply to more, resulting in a total app count on this kind of breakdown larger than a CDS total app count which only counts each individual once.)
