i really did not fake hours, but obv. some activities interlap in their time, i.e. babysitting and story writing (i can do both at the same time, but i list them separately)....also, some of the smaller hr activities are clubs which sometimes meet at the same time (some times*), so i have to do both...also some activities have fluctuating hours...like 15hr one week, then maybe 2 hr the next week.... o_o

however, looking at the list, my hours look really fake...should i intentional lower my hour count so it doesn't look as crazy?

Are these personal hobbies or clubs at school? I would list babysitting under Work Experience, not EC. Also, as far as writing stories, I might think about including that on your resume under Hobbies and Interests. List school clubs, volunteer work, youth group, etc. in the EC portion of your app. I would try and figure out how many ACTUAL hours you work on a particular activity you are listing instead of saying you work on 5 things at once. This may come across as an embellishment. If hours fluctuate from week to week then come up with an average. Good luck and don’t work too hard! ;)

Agree with 1down- you should not be inflating your extracurriculars by overlapping the times. Adcoms will quickly assume you are exaggerating.

If your club meetings are at the same time, you can only attend one at a time. So halve those numbers. As recommended above, storywriting is a hobby/homework, not an EC. You can mention it in an essay, or send the stories as a supplement.

As it is now, your EC hours add up to 55/week which equals almost 8 hours a day for a week, or 11 hours a day for Monday-Friday. Both averages will be seen as impossible, assuming you also do homework, travel to and from school, eat, shower, and sleep.

Try to be more realistic, you don’t want adcoms to see you as dishonest or desperate.
