I was looking at the EE Course catalog, and I calculated the the minimum number of courses needed to graduate as somewhere around 24.8. I looked at the thing that said: Required Subjects: 6.001, 6.002, 6.003, 6.004, 18.03 Advanced Math: 6.041 or 18.440 Department Lab: A 12-unito The Three EE Headers + 2 electives plus additional 180 units beyond GIRs(divided 180 by 14 for average unit in EE class).

Plus the 17 GRI subjects; I got around a total of 43 classes, an average of 5.3 something classes per term? Am I off on calculating this minimum requirement?

I heard that most freshman take 4 courses a term. With that 5.something, wouldnt that mean almost 6 classes per term for the other years?

How many classes would you say most people take per term as the years progress? And like whats the low end/ high end?

Thanks!

the classes for your major count toward the 180 units beyond GIRs.

Right. So looking at the program, there are 84 units of required classes + 84 units of restricted electives + 39 units of unrestricted electives (they say 48, but I think that's just because it's 4 even classes) - 27 units in the departmental program which also count toward the GIRs = 180 units.

So there's your 180 right there.

180 + (17 GIR subjects * 12 units per subject) = 384 units.

384 units/8 terms = 48 units/term. QED.

Most people take 48 units per term. The low end is 36; that's the most you can take and still be considered a full-time student. The high end... well, I know one person who took two terms of 90 units, and I heard of one person who took 100 units.
