Total Units to Graduate

So i was just talking with a sophomore friend of mine. He plans to graduate when he is a junior [like complete all his units and all]
i am thinking about the same thing and saving myself the $$$ and all.
How many credits does one need. I believe it is about 180-192 [192 = 1644] and if all goes right, i could pretty much graduate early? although i dont know how this works exactly [like i have no idea if im calculating this write and all.

does it matter if i am in pharmacological chem?

hmm i know im a bit too "early" in the whole graduate early thingy, but can someone just explain graduating early and all that stuff [the course load, the amount of classes one should take per quarter, etc].. if it helps i have about 44 units from AP courses and i believe 8 more from Community College Courses, but i need to check on that.

thanks all!

EDIT: ok this is a really dumb question, but the GE's are part of the total units right? [I'm in ERC by the way]
EDIT 2: Also, if you pass the language proficiency test, you automatically get the units right? or does that mean you have extra units now?

uh, it’s not really based on a set # of units – you need to complete the requirements for your major and college. anything short of that that’s not covered under some kind of petition will result in you NOT getting a degree, hence not graduating.

Yes, GEs are part of your total units. No, language test does not get you the units. You need 180 to graduate, and complete all of the requirements for your college and major as astrina said. You cannot petition this number. I graduated a year early with 181 and would recommend good planning!

hmm so what’s the point of taking the language test then?> is it just to clear up some space for you to concentrate on taking your major classes

the point of the language placement test is to PLACE you into the appropriate class.

hmm did i say placement, i meant the other one. the language PROFICIENCY

sry for the mix up :)
