Tough Decision..

Hello everyone. I wanted to ask a question here since this forum seems a bit more active than the majors one.

I started college taking finance/business courses. My dad said it would be good to have a technical backing too, so I started taking some CS/IS courses. After taking a few of them, I am finding that I have absolutely no love for these courses. While CS is interesting, its extremely boring and tedious.. and I don't want to continue taking any more of it. In all honestly, I don't see myself ever applying this knowledge, because I'm just passing these courses for the sake of passing...

How do I tell my dad that I have no interest and that I do not wish to pursue this path any longer? He's a software engineer/now project manager. He thinks that I will enjoy CS but I absolutely hate it! I want to focus only on finance- not CS or something like that.

I am 2 courses behind in my curriculum because I took CS/IS courses, and the plan was to take summer courses to make the 4 yrs. I think I'm just going to stop taking any more CS courses and just take 6 courses a semester doing something I actually enjoy. I just need help telling my dad...

Depending on your schools requirements, I would think that you’d be eligible to receive a minor in Computer Science as is, in addition to your Finance major.

Just tell your father that you’ve had enough.

You got your background (which is what he wanted you to do) and it will show up on your degree. No reason to continue on if you hate it.

^ I agree. If it is something you hate doing then don’t do it, all you are really doing is throwing money and time away if you don’t know what you are going to do with it!
