tough scedule for senior year

should i wait to apply to college via regular admission vs early admission if my courses for senior year are more difficult than that of my junior year? i want my senior year grades to be factored into the colleges decision since i will have more AP classes. i would rather them see the grades before i am accepted, rather than after they make their choice.

yeah, if you want them to see your grades you should definetely wait.

does applying early help admission chances?

It can but having bad grades hurts it so you might want to wait

Applying early shows dedication, and it does ease the admissions, but only by a few percentage points at most schools. I would say that if you think you are on the bubble, wait and finish your courses with good grades.

I think if they feel that your 1st semester grades can make a difference, they’ll defer you, in which case 1st semester grades will be seen. Especially if you could send your quarter grades or something which, although unofficial, will give them an indication of what they should expect at the semester mark.

This happened with me. I got deferred, then pulled almost straight As 1st semester, then got accepted regular. If you have no chance to begin with (in other words you would have been rejected regular even if your 1st semester grades were perfect) then they’ll reject you in either case.

if this helps i have gotten straight A’s and am ranked 2 in my class. for me at least it is not a matter of showing improvement, but rather showing actual grades for difficult classes (AP) which wont come until senior year for me.

oh and does making an application binding help admission chances as well?

^yeah generally. or else i don’t know why so many people do it.
