Tough Schools...SAT's Nothing Special...Chances Please?

Chances at My Schools? Anything would be great

My schools:
Claremont Mckenna (math, reading only)
Occidental
USC
University of Washinton Honors (in state)
Northwestern (math, reading only)
Wesleyan (the only one that says they look at the SAT II's)
Colgate (math, reading only I think)
Williamette (Leadership Application 3 week decision)
Columbia (not sure whether I am applying)

Class Rank 39/362 (One of the best public schools in the country)
GPA Unweighted: 3.92
Honors/AP Courses
• Chemistry 2 H 11 A-
• Physics 2 H 11 A
• Precalculus H 11 A-, A
• AP American Studies SS 11 A, A
• American Studies SS H 11 A, A
• AP Calculus 12 (No comment)
• AP Biology 12 (Hopefully A-)
• AP Macroeconomics 12 (A or A-)
• AP Literature 12 (A or A-)
• Spanish 103 12 MIHS/University of Washington (A)

SAT I's
M 750
R 680
W 620 (9)
(Retaking in Dec.)
SAT II: 620 on US History and 660 on Math Level 2
(Retook the SAT II's in November.)

These were all my best scores as the last time I got 740 in M, 620 in R, and 600 in W. However I know for a fact I can do better on Writing (I have taken numerous practice tests and always seem to score 690) and while I think I can do better on the other two I am happy with those scores.

EC's
• 3 Years (12,11,9) of Volunteer service that has a variety of programs 40 hours each summer.
• Boys and Girls Club Basketball 4th Grade Coach 11
• 6th Grade Head Coach (paid job) 12
• Tennis Team (JV Captain) 10, 11, 12
• 2 Years High School Basketball 9, 10
• Men’s Volleyball Captain (Not offered at school, Club team placed 3rd in region) 11 ,12
• Traveled to Spain for Language Immersion Program (3 weeks) Summer 11
• Journalism Writer (11), Editorial, Ads, and Calendar Editor for School Newspaper (12)

Tons of others but I left them off because I dont want to bore anyone.

College Essays: Good.
Recs: Havent seen them but both are great teachers and one teacher is sure to write an amazing one.

Chances??? Any opinions would be greatly appreciated

why is it that my posts never get a response. Anything, please?!?!

Because you don’t make yourself stand out enough :stuck_out_tongue: Nah, I wouldn’t take it personally.

Claremont Mckenna (math, reading only) - If they disregard writing, I’d say it’s a high match
Occidental - low match
USC - high match, I’ve heard that they like community service a lot, so that could help you.
U Washington - match; I think applying to the Honors College might actually give you a better chance because it shows that you’re not applying to them for the heck of it. I’ve heard that they don’t like being considered a safety school.
Northwestern - high match/low reach
Wesleyan - No idea
Colgate (math, reading only I think) - match
Williamette (Leadership Application 3 week decision) - No idea
Columbia (not sure whether I am applying) - Hey, go for it. It’s a high reach, but you never know.

If you want to get into Columbia you need 3 sat2s and better overalls. EC’s are solid and your courses look good. My school is also one of the top publics in the nation so a 4.53 weighted is barely top 10%.

You only need 2 SAT II’s for Columbia.
where did you get 3 from?

ikatfabric- thank you. I appreciate the response.

I actually took Math II and Lit the second time so that would technically give me three SAT II’s.

I am not sure if it is too helpful or not, but my dad graduated with a master’s from Northwestern, and my uncle who knows the dean of admission at Colgate went there for undergraduate.

Hump de bump.

Anyone else that can give me another opinion besides 1?

go to Claremont McKenna,it’s a very good school, small (only 1,000 people), very well known and the social scene is excellent

I think you have an excellent shot at all of those schools

Thanks pierre0913, it is probably my number 1 school at the moment but I still think it will be hard to get into (a lot of kids from my school are going to apply there). What about the legacy at Northwestern and Colgate? do you think that will help me?

Claremont Mckenna (math, reading only) - High Match
USC - high match
U Washington - match;
Northwestern - low reach
Wesleyan -?
Colgate (math, reading only I think) - match
Williamette (Leadership Application 3 week decision) - ?
Columbia (not sure whether I am applying) -Definitely a reach, as are all ivies.(but not completely out of the question)
I hope admissions counselors are kind to 1430 SAT scorers with lower writing scores:)

thanks djoko…couple others? please…

sorry for this but…bump

i think your in everywhere,
except columbia is a high reach, it is for me too!!

chance back

K I have an update:
-I now have a 2090 SAT superscore (Math: 750, Reading: 690, Writing:650)
-Claremont Mckenna I applied to early decision II, Did not apply to Columbia
-I got into UW and Willamette gave me their highest merit scholarship.
Any more opinions???
